Do-It-Yourself Maintenance Tips
- Do not put foil at the bottom of your oven to catch spills. Foil can melt to the floor of the oven. Try cooking food on a cookie sheet as an alternative.
- Use the self-cleaning setting sparingly. A large number of oven repairs happen after a self-cleaning cycle. The extreme heat from self-cleaning are hard on oven computers. Try wiping up spills instead.
Before you call for a repair
Just like your home computer, oven computers can lock up after a power fluctuation. If you are having trouble with your oven, try turning off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes to reboot the computer. This could save you a repair call.
